October Loves

I figured it would be fun to round up some of my favorite things from this past month and include them in a blog post! From podcasts to Instagram accounts, here are some of my recent favorite things.



NutritionFacts with Dr. Michael Greger

First off, Dr. Greger is quirky and may have the most interesting voice around, but he sure is unbelievably passionate about plants. If you're one of those people who loves hearing about the latest health trends or collects fun tidbits about nutrition, this podcast is perfect for you. The episodes are short–about 10 to 15 minutes long–so they don't require a huge time commitment. Some episodes are Nutrition Facts Grab Bags, where he will talk about a variety of the latest nutritional studies or facts, while others are dedicated to a certain topic, either food related or more general.

Eater

While I specifically subscribe to Eater D.C. because it's the closest news to where I live, Eater covers food trends, restaurants, chefs, and more in major cities throughout the U.S. You can choose which of their newsletters you want to subscribe to (but I subscribe to them all because there's always something new!). While a majority of their coverage is not vegan or plant-based, they have done an amazing job lately of covering vegan restaurants, chefs, plant-based news, and trends on their newsletters. Their other coverage is quality as well, but I get so excited when I see a new story on plant-based trends.

A new novella by Stephen King, (I can’t get through his larger books!) it follows the story of Scott, who can’t seem to stop losing weight, despite the fact that he looks the same. 


DOCUMENTARY

The Game Changers (Netflix)

I just started watching this on Netflix and I love it! It talks a lot about animal protein, as well as interviewing famous vegan athletes. It’s super inspiring and has lots of great information!

If you couldn't tell already, I. Love. Asian. Food. I could eat it everyday and never get sick of it. Seriously. Give me rice noodles, sushi, tofu, soy sauce, chili crisp, and veggies and I am content for life. Which is why I love this Instagram page! Not all asian food is vegan (fish sauce, meat broths, etc.) but all of their dishes are vegan versions of traditional Asian dishes. The photography is bomb, the food is mouthwatering... just do yourself a favor and give @littlericenoodle a follow right now. And make some tofu. :)


LaoGanMa’s Spicy Chili Crisp

Okay, you didn’t think I could go through a whole post without mentioning some real food, right? I learned about this stuff from @littlericenoodle on Insta, actually, and it has changed my life. I don’t say that lightly. This stuff is dangerously addictive, goes great on literally anything you put it on, and it’s super cheap at your local international food store. It’s by no means a health food (MSG, oil, etc.), but it elevates the taste of anything! Fried garlic, crunchy soybeans, spicy chili oil, and chili flakes make this so, so good.
