How to Use Affirmations Everyday
After finishing Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life, I've started to incorporate affirmations into my everyday routine. By repeating positive affirmations, you can actually train your subconscious into believing these positive thoughts about yourself. The more you use them, you will start to notice you feel happier, lighter, and you actually believe the things you're telling yourself.
What are affirmations they and what do they do?
Affirmations are positive statements that can help reframe our limiting beliefs about ourselves. When used repeatedly, they help promote self confidence & assist in change.

But how can saying something over and over make it true? The answer: neuroplasticity.

Your brain can actually be “rewired” to recognize these statements as true. It’s been scientifically proven that when you imagine yourself doing something (ex. successfully finishing a 5K), simply visualizing activates the same areas of the brain as if you were actually running the race!

Affirmations work in a similar way by helping to train the subconscious to see these statements as true. The more you repeat them, you may even start saying them in daily conversations...
How do I make an affirmation?
Keep in mind, affirmations are always present tense or positive. For example, if you are in debt and feel down about your financial situation, "I don't have any debt" is not a good affirmation. Try: "I have all the money I need. I am debt free. I feel financially secure." When you say the affirmation, try to imagine and invoke that feeling. What does it feel like to be debt free? Can you feel that when you say it?
Ways to incorporate affirmation work into your everyday routine:
1. When I wake up I decide on an affirmation or two to focus on for the day. I open up my journal and write these over and over. I do this again in the middle of the day and again at the end of the day.
2. Other days or nights, I put on a set of affirmations I recorded over some relaxing yoga music. I listen to these when I wake up while journaling in the background, before I go to sleep, or when going on a walk or working out. I even let it play in the background while I work! Similar to how a song gets stuck in your head, affirmations do too. Also, the sound of your own voice saying the affirmations adds so much more potency to them!

3. If you don't have an affirmation playlist you made, you can also listen to others! Spotify has some great affirmation podcasts for free. Affirmation Pod with Josie Ong is a great one.
4. Use sticky notes or cards. I have affirmation cards I was gifted a while ago. I place them on my windowsill, altar, and mirror. You can also use sticky notes for the bathroom mirror or wherever you'll see them around the house or in your car.
5. If you get sick of listening or writing words–try music! I talk about them on my Instagram stories a lot, but Beautiful Chorus writes catchy and soothing affirmation music. It's harmonic and sounds great during car rides. My favorite is "I Easily Find Abundance."
